About Nepal

Nepal (Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal) is an epitome of natural beauty in South Asia bordered by China to the north and India to the south, east, and west; Kathmandu, it’s the capital city, is situated in a wonderful intermittent valley. Nepal covers an area of 147,516 square kilometers, stretches 145-241 kilometers north to south, and runs 850 kilometers east to west of Himalayan Mountain Range. Nepal has diverse landscapes that range from the humid plain region (Terai) to the south and Himalayan region to the north and also has innumerous folds of hills, inner valleys, and small mountains. The Mt. Everest, which is 8,848 meters, is the highest mountain in Nepal and in the world, whereas, Kechana Kalan–just 70 meters above sea level, which is located in Jhapa district, is the lowest point in Nepal. Nepal is a landlocked country with more than 6,000 small and big rivers and rivulets. The huge elevation variations, in Nepal, give rise to the tropical climate in the south to the alpine climate in the north. Temperatures, in Nepal, drops below −40°C in the north in the winter and rises above 40°C in the summer in the south.

People, Language, and Religion

Nepal is a secular, multicultural, multilingual, and multi-religious country. It is a country with 30 million population, in which more than 60 ethnic groups reside with their own cultures, religions, and languages. Nepali is the official language; nonetheless, many other languages are spoken as regional and local dialects. In Nepal, Hindu, Buddhist, Kirat, Muslim, Christian, and several other religious people co-exist in perfect harmony.

Nepal as a Tourist Destination

The birth place of Lord Buddha, Lumbini, and eight of the world’s ten highest mountains–Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Annapurna, etc., which are world’s wonderful tourist destinations, are in Nepal. Lumbini provides pilgrimage destinations to pilgrims, likewise, the Himalayas are challenges for every adventurer. The breathtaking natural landscapes of hills, hillocks, valleys, deep gorges, falls, mountain-rivers, and unique flora and fauna offer the world’s one of the best trekking routes, kayaking, river surfing, bungee jumping, hot-air ballooning, paragliding, and rock climbing, etc.
